How does a Pet Wellness Plan Work?
At Southwind Animal Hospital our team knows that you want to give your pet their very best shot at a long and healthy life, but as important as regular preventive care is for your pet's health, we also know that sometimes it can be difficult to manage these recurring expenses.
Our Pet Wellness Plans were created with optimal preventive care and cost savings in mind. Pet Wellness Plans for Memphis dogs and cats 'bundle' all the annual preventive services your pet needs into 12 easy monthly payments, saving you money and helping your pet thrive.
What is included in a Pet Wellness Plan?
Our Pet Wellness Plans include all the preventive healthcare services that your dog or cat needs to give them their best shot at great long-term health.
Each Wellness Plan includes essential preventive care your pet needs, including twice-yearly wellness exams, core vaccinations, comprehensive preventive bloodwork once a year, and a full year of parasite prevention for your dog or cat.
The Importance of Preventive Care
Wellness exams are a complete health check for your pet. They allow our vets to diagnose and treat any developing health issues and check on your pet’s diet to ensure they’re getting enough daily nutrients.
Sometimes pets can appear healthy, but the early signs of disease can lurk hidden within their bodies - sometimes with no obvious symptoms. That’s why we run wellness bloodwork to ensure they’re in tip-top shape inside and out.
Parasites can be deadly for an animal of any size if left untreated. Prevention provides the best protection, which is why each Wellness Plan provides pets with a 12-month supply of flea and tick prevention, as well as heartworm prevention medication with our plans for dogs.
If your pet does become infected, fecal tests can help our vets to spot signs of intestinal parasites so that they can be treated as quickly as possible, before your pet becomes more seriously ill.

What is the difference between a Pet Wellness Plan and Pet Insurance?
Wellness plans and pet insurance policies both offer valuable benefits, but they are very different.
The types of veterinary care covered by pet insurance and wellness plans will vary depending on your provider and level of coverage.
However, at a basic level, Wellness Plans are designed to help manage preventative care costs, while Pet Insurance is designed to cover emergency, accidents, or specific illnesses.

We offer Pet Wellness Plans for small dogs, medium dogs, large dogs, giant dogs and cats.

Should I invest in a Pet Wellness Plan every year?
Well, we strongly suggest that you do. But we are biased, of course, towards ensuring every pet we meet gets the best possible care.

My pet is young and healthy. Does it make sense to buy a Wellness Plan?
Wellness plans make sense for all pets of all ages. Regular preventive care at a young age can help your pet stay healthy into old age. When you sign your pet up as a puppy or kitten, your puppy/kitten vaccines are included in the monthly fee.

My pet is getting older. Does it make sense to buy a Wellness Plan?
Wellness Plans help ensure that pets remain healthy as they age. Our Wellness Plans can be customized based on a specific animal's needs, and that includes the needs of aging animals! Wellness Plans for older pets include many of the same core services, as well as screening for various age-related diseases and disorders.

How do I make the monthly payments?
When you enroll your four-legged family member in one of our Pet Wellness Plans, we will enter your payment information (credit card) into a secure portal. You can choose the withdrawal date that's best for you (between the 1st and 15th), and your card will be charged monthly on that date. If there is ever a problem with your card (e.g., expired, lost, or stolen) please notify us as soon as possible so we can update the information.

I have more than one pet. Can I get a discount on multiple wellness plans?
When you sign up multiple pets at the same time, you will only pay one $35 enrollment fee.

What happens if my pet passes during the 12-month commitment?
If your pet passes during the 12-month commitment, notify us and we will cancel the plan for you so the payments will stop.

Will the Wellness Plan cover all of my pet's healthcare needs?
Wellness plans cover the recurring basics that all pets need (core vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea preventative). In addition, you will receive 10% discount on any other service your pet needs, excluding food and grooming (e.g., dental procedures, spay & neutering, etc).

Do Wellness Plans renew automatically after a year?
Yes, unless you request that we cancel your plan, it will renew automatically each year.
